LIMBO
When? Saturday 27th November, 7PM
Where? Bridge House Theatre, Warwick.
For a film that is so infused with sadness, however, Limbo is remarkably funny – a gentle, empathic kind of humour that is derived from the men’s bleak existences, without mocking them.
The film needs no excess melodrama even at its bleakest, because the visual language Sharrock has constructed is inhospitable enough. It’s his concentration on these faces, in the 4:3 ratio of Nick Cooke’s gravely beautiful cinematography, that gives it all a redemptive glow.
What a thoroughly wonderful sophomore feature from the British director Ben Sharrock – witty, poignant, marvellously composed and shot, moving and even weirdly gripping.
What's it about?
This British comedy centres around the lives of a young Syrian musician and three other refugees who are staying on a remote Scottish Island while they wait for the outcome of their asylum claims.
'Limbo' takes a funny, yet poignant look at the lives of refuges in the UK.
